Nice Shoes is back, and has been proudly serving vegans and all Canadians for over a decade, since 2011!
Dave Shishkoff is the new owner of Nice Shoes, taking over in February, 2025 after the site had a short offline period of about 6 months. Dave is a long-time vegan and activist in Victoria, BC (learn more about him here), and many may be familiar with his name after helping get VeganSupply.ca running and handling the online operations for several years. He’s a dad to rescue hamsters PV and Claudia, and rescue guinea pig Luna. Dave runs the local resource and info site www.TheVictoriaVegan.ca and also organizes local cycling events at www.AboutTheRide.ca.
Dave got involved with Nice Shoes after Gary Charbonneau took over the business in September, 2022, where he set up and designed a brand new site (good-bye Drupal, hello WordPress!), and had been running most of the online operations in that period as well. A big thank-you to Gary for keeping the spirit of Nice Shoes going, and wishes all the best in his future endeavors!
Finally word from Gary about Joanne and Glenn, the original founders of Nice Shoes.
We’d like to recognize and thank Joanne Chang and Glenn Gaetz who founded Nice Shoes in 2011. These animal lovers and organizers of the Vancouver vegan community had a vision to help make veganism more accessible and brought it to life with Nice Shoes. Since then, thousands of vegans and vegan-curious visitors are discovering ways to live a more animal- and earth-friendly way.
All the best to Joanne, Glenn and their family as they pursue new careers and interests. Thank you for helping pave the way!
